Halloween Spooktacular Banner Hop for Special Needs Children!

Welcome to the annual Halloween Spooktacular Banner Hop for Special Needs Children!
I am delighted to join with more than 3 dozen other women who have each made at least one Halloween-themed banner that will be donated to hang in the room of a medically-fragile child at Pediatric Specialty Care in Pennsylvania.
Our Hop Hostess (Ellen CardMonkey Jarvis) works at PSC’s Bucks County site as Admissions Coordinator. The Banner Hop starts there, so please be sure to circle back to the beginning to see all of the terrific banners have been made for these very special children.

Ellen shared this information with us about Pediatric Specialty Care: “PSC is a very special place where children stay either long- or short-term, typically after hospitalization.  Most are dependent on ventilators and other technology to survive. Some have been born too early or with genetic diseases or birth injuries.  Other children suffer injuries later in life that require constant care later, including brain injuries from trauma or loss of oxygen (from choking, suffocation or drowning) and spinal cord injuries.

These children and their families -- and PSC’s staff -- will be thrilled to receive the Halloween banners, to help brighten the season when their friends and siblings will be out trick-or-treating.”
Here is the banner I am sending to a child at PSC:

Here are some close ups of the pieces!

I designed the banner with my gypsy using "Elegant Edges" cartridge for the center black mat," Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art" cartridge for the Pumpkin shape, "Pumpkin Carvings" for the image layers and "Happy Hauntings" for the Bats on each end of the banner. I used "Swiss Dots" to emboss the center Phrase layer and the top bat layer and Tim Holtz Textured Fades "Springtime Background & Border Set" to emboss the orange pumpkins. Inked the orange and yellow pieces with some brown MS ink. The ribbon measures 4 feet and is from Studio G WM collection.
Hope you like my little contribution to Ellen's Cause!!

This Hop is two days (Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2), and on each day you will see different banners. Be sure to visit on both days to see the truly inspirational work of these generous bloggers, and leave some love (comments) on as many sites as you can – because if you do, you can up your chances to win some Spooktacular blog candy, including from these sponsors:

I Beleive There Are Angels Among Us Blog Hop

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours.
To show us how to live to teach us how to give.
To guide us with the light of love.

I know for myself, that I have a guardian angel watching over me as she is my very own precious child that I had lost in 1991 and she would have been 23 years old today. Strange how comforting it is to know that someone watches over us in sew many ways.

When life held troubled times, and had me down on my knees.
There’s always been someone there to come along and comfort me.
A kind word from a stranger, to lend a helping hand.
A phone call from a friend, just to say I understand.

Today's hop may be the story of our own Guardian Angel who watches over us, the beauty of angels, or just expressing kind words. The craft blogging world is phenomenal as sharing loving thoughts and caring towards others.

We have fabulous sponsors today

Lucy Kelleher, A Close to My Heart representative, has graciously offered a stamp set called "Angelic Blessings" to one lucky winner that becomes a follower of her blog, http://love2createitall.blogspot.com

Daisy Collins of I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose, http://tsunamirosedesigns.blogspot.com/, also has a Zibbet store, http://www.zibbet.com/tsunamirose, where she designs beautiful papers - has graciously offered to custom design a paper for one very very lucky winner that becomes a follower of her blog!

If you were visiting me today, I appreciate and love you visiting me, but would want you to start at the beginning of the hop not as to miss a single angel with Lynne at http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/. If you have arrived from Tami's blog at  http://tamboscreations.blogspot.com/ , then you are in the right flight!
For my project I wasn't sure what to do then last week I lost a very dear Aunt so I thought a layout would be a good thing. She would have been 89 next Sunday and I am still j\having trouble wrapping my head around this. She and I celebrated our birthdays every year on Labor Day at an annual family picnic. Her birthday was September 2nd and mine is the 3rd. I haven't found the right picture of her to put on theis page so it waits.

I used a Peachy Keen Stamp set called 'Our 2 Angels in Heaven" colored with coloring pencils. The paper is from from a pack by 'atd' i bought at Tuesday Morning for a song! I typed the title on my computer then cut it with my E2 using CTMH Art Philosophy carttridgealong wit q mat for it The photo mat was made with paper from my stash. I am going to share a poem written by my Aunt's oldest grandson just to shawre how very special she was,

Your next stop along the way today is  Katie at  http://ktsangels.blogspot.com/  . I thank you and appreciate you're stopping today and hope you stop again!

First Readers

Welcome to I Double Dog Dare You's Second Challenge -- to do a book or lay-out that would and could be a first reader depicting nursery rhymes, See Dick - See Jane - See Spot, or any of your favorite Golden Books. And they were up to the challenge???? They were Double Dog Dared to do where few could meet the next frontier and challenge!!! I can't wait to see all of the imagination soar and rise to the reading occasion!!!

There is a super talented group of ladies that have arisen to this dare and the complete line-up is listed below just in case you get lost along the way. Hate to see you get lost with your reading progress and wouldn't want you to miss a single first reader:

  1. Lynne Kirsch - http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
  2. Kimberly Pate - http://scrappingrookie.blogspot.com
  3. Anita Cannon http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com

  5. Miriam Meserve ~ http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com
  6. Maria Matter ~ http://JoyfulStamper.blogspot.com
  7. Janet Smith ~ http://www.ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/

For my project, I have chosen to do a Tiny book

To create this book I used 3 pieces of card stock 8 x4 folded in half and glued back to back on three sides I left a little pocket on two of the pages so I could add a journaling tag or picture tag for a little added surprise.
I used my Imagine along with "The Good Old Days" cartridge for all the other elements. I wrote the Title and the story pages on my computer printed them on printer paper then centered the mats over the printed areas taped then in p;ace and ran then through the printed again. It has been 60 years but I still remember reading about Dick and Jane, Sally, Puff and Spot.
Now, that you have progressed to the next reader, I am the last stop on your reading tour Hope you have had a great time and enjoyed all the fun projects from our fabby group of creative ladies.

Thank you for stopping by and all comments are greatly appreciated!

The Birds DT Blog Hop for Scrapping With Lisa's Designs

Oh no!!!! Those nasty pigs stole our eggs!!! How dare they make an omelet or pickled eggs with our offspring!!!! I vote we attack those pigs!!!!! They're laughing at us and that will not do!!!!! Bombs AWAY!!!!! ATTACK!!!!!!! We must save our children!!!! Black Bird flies through the air and bombs the hiding place of the King Pig with no avail. Yellow Bird to the rescue flies fast and far and topples some of the hiding place of King Pig!!! Red Bird flies straight and knocks a few more of the building. White bird, says "watch me" and she flies and when touched drops an egg and explodes a few more boards of the hiding place. Green bird has awesome powers when touched, he will return when least expected and crash into the sight! Finally Blue Bird's special talent when touched becomes three (3)!!!! ATTACK!!!!!!!

Welcome to one of Lisa's newest designs from her shop, Scrapping with Lisa's Designs (http://scrappingwithlisadesigns.com/) - The Birds (http://www.scrappingwithlisadesigns.com/item_168/The-Birds.htm), complete with all the birds described and one laughing King Pig with building materials to create your own awesome scene!

But before you get too creative, stop a moment and check out what the Design Team has to offer. In case you get lost along the way, here's the entire line-up trying to save the eggs!!!

Lisa is graciously offering three (3) lucky followers a free file of their choosing just for commenting and following the Design Team blog, http://scrappingwithlisadesignsdt.blogspot.com/!!! Now how wonderful is that, not to mention easy peasy!!!!!

I created a Mobil with my bird file (I've never made a mobile before so I went with simple) The picture quality isn't too good something is not right with my camera .

To create this I first opened the png file in Paint i then printed it out as it was and flipped it left to right to get a mirror image of the file and printed it again. I cut each piece out with scissors inked all the edges to try and cover the white edges glued each head together wit a piece of crochet cotton sandwiched in between. I went into my yard and cut a twig with a bend in it tied it to the bottom of the bird coup image so that it was balanced and attached my birds at different levels from the twig. The most difficult part was trying to decide what to use for string I thought about using my leftover fishing line from an earlier project but nixed it in short order Fishing line is not my friend. I may give this to one of my grand kids for their room!!

Your next stop following which birds will be used to attack King Pig is Jearise. Thanks for stopping and if you aren't already a follower of my blog - I would love to have you to check out my wonderful creations!

Stay tuned for September 18th as we will wreak fall havoc with Scrapping with Lisa's Designs!!!!

Have a super fun day and enjoy the hop!

Readin', 'Ritin', and 'Rithmatic Her Craft Kre8tions Blog Hop

School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate"I love you, so"
When we were a couple of kids

The three Rs, a widely used abbreviation for the basic elements of a primary school curriculum: reading, ’riting (writing), and ’rithmetic (arithmetic) which is what the theme is for this month's Her Craft Kre8tions challenge!

Each Design Team member has received a piece of chalkboard paper approximately 6 x 6-inches. Now, where the challenge lies, is Design Team member is to create a "school" type theme whether it be a class lesson or something that their beau or them could have written on their slate. We're going to see how creative this piece of chalkboard paper can be made into with their "School Lesson" of "readin', 'ritin' and 'rithmatic.

We have a great line-up of super creative talent along with our Design Team Page:

For my project I created another " Meandering Mini Album" I am including pictures of the inside pages hop you enjoy the tour!

Cricut Lite Recess Cartridge for the layered cuts
Cut the Black chalk board paper into four 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 squares Used one on the cover and used chalk to write 2012.
The papers I used were from digital files from 2 sources Create with TLC August Club file and Digital Delites by Loubyloo. The ticket , bus, apple and other 'printed images' and title on the cover were also from the Create with TLC club.I also used some Sticko puffy stickers for embellishments. The pocket tags were punched with a Creative Memories Tag Punch. A few brads apiece of gingham ribbon and my project was complete.
There will be some super blog candy for one lucky winner that posts on each post along the way including the Design Team blog.

Guest Designer For Her Craftiness August 8th 2012

" Good Morning everyone I have the honor of being Guest Designer today For the fabulously crafty and talented Miss Lynne of  Her Craftiness. Thank you Lynne for having me, and thanks to Kimberly Pate for helping Lynne out and being so patient with me.
We were to create a project with a Sailing and/or Beach fun using the colors Blue, White, Green, Brown, Yellow, and Orange. I decided to go with the Sailing theme.

I cut this cute little sailboat from the "Just Because" cards Cricut cartridge cut at 3 inches The water was cut from the "crocks rule Lite cartridge at 2.5 inches I believe, and the Sun is from"Going Places". All the paper is from my 'HUGE"' pile of scraps. The only one I know where it came from is the cloud paper I printed it from a digital file I got from "Shery K Designs" called 'Spring Time'
The sentiment is from Pink By Design "Flying High" Stamp Set.
I used the Cuttle bug to do the embossing with "Swiss Dots" and "Devine Swirls".
The sentiment was stamped on  "stitched Oval Die" by My Creative Time
The card measures 5 1/2 inches square,
Hope you enjoyed my little presentation! "\ and thanks for stopping by!!
Have a Great day!
