The hop starts with Lynne (http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/). You won't want to miss a single occasion!!!
For my project I chose "Armed Forces Day" ! Here is a brief History of it's inception.
President Harry S.
Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come
together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support
of our country.
On August 31, 1949,
Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day
to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days.
The single
day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the
Department of Defense.
For my project I created a layout to celebrate my families Service to the country. It is not quite finished I am missing photos of both my grandfathers who served during WWI. I have been wanting to do this layout for a very long time. Both my parents served during WWII and I was in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era!
I used Creative Memories "Storybook creator" software to create this page. The background paper is from "TLC Creations" and the embellishment are from a number of different digital files I have From Creative Memories , My Memories and other sources.
I have a second project which is actually an old one and the very first post I ever made to my blog but it is quite appropriate for this day!
